Mechanical Design Engineer
We're looking for a broadly talented, hands-on mechanical design engineer to design, prototype, and help scale our first generation of robots.
Responsibilities:
- Design parts and assemblies in Onshape that meet load, form factor, cost, and durability requirements
- Build and test prototypes with an emphasis on reliability and durability
- Work with suppliers to source and inspect parts
- Design test fixtures, qualification fixtures and EOL tests
- Work on a small, highly collaborative team, communicate your ideas clearly, and document your processes as needed
You might be a good fit if you have:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience would be great; however, a proven track record of designing and shipping a physical product at scale is more important than years of experience
- Experience designing for bent sheet metal and similar flat-pattern fabrication methods, including applications in compliant materials such as elastomers and soft goods.
- Experience designing for cable routing and management
- Working knowledge of reliability engineering concepts including MTTF, failure rates, uptime modeling, and basic statistical analysis
- Broad familiarity with robotic systems, spanning actuators, motors, sensors, and electromechanical integration
We're a small fast-moving team working together in person, in San Francisco. If this work excites you but you don't check every box, we'd still love to hear from you.
